Premiership Information
The Premier League has been in existence since the 1992/93 season of English football and is the highest level of competition in the English league pyramid. A total of20 teams (since the 1995/96 season) contest for the Premier League championship, with the bottom three being relegated to the Championship. The three clubs from theChampionship who win promotion replace the relegated clubs each season. Only four clubs have ever managed to win the Premiership: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers. The season spans 38 games, meaning a total of 380 matches are played every season, which runs from August to May.
